Recommended Websites

I have surfed the web regularly for ten years now. I vividly still remember that April day in 1996 when I first got my internet connection. I was so excited about the world wide web and chatting then, that I stayed up 48 hours to surf continuously! In these past ten years, I have visited thousands of websites spanning all categories of purpose and from all parts of our globe. Below is a very small selection of some of my favourite websites along with my brief comments about them. Note that some discuss controversial issues! Time permitting, I will expand on the selection.

Edhi Foundation

Abdul Sattar Edhi is to Karachi and Pakistan what Mother Teresa was to Calcutta. An individual who has tirelessly and selflessly dedicated his life to the service of suffering humanity. If any living person on this planet deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, Abdul Sattar Edhi is that man.

Ansar Burney Welfare Trust

Another individual in Pakistan who has devoted his life to alleviate the suffering of human beings in a grand way. A lawyer by profession, Ansar Burney's organization has reunited thousands of missing people, helped free wrongly convicted people from prisons and promoted human rights across the globe.

Amnesty International

Need I say anything about this acclaimed human rights organization?

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan

An organization which is doing a good job of publicizing human rights abuses in Pakistan. Unfortunately, they have much to do.

The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom

The Commission is an independent, bipartisan U.S. government agency that was created by the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 to monitor the status of freedom of thought, conscience, and religion or belief abroad, as defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and related international instruments, and to give independent policy recommendations to the President, the Secretary of State and the Congress

This website collects and publicizes information about harassment and human rights violations directed against Christians across the globe. It's sad to learn that people of the Christian faith are subjected to such mistreatment in so many countries and that Christian governments are failing to take adequate protective countermeasures.

Compass Direct

Another website which highlights the global plight of Christian minorities, particularly in Muslim countries. A wealth of information is presented here.

Institute for Gulf Affairs

This Institute, based in Washington D.C., is doing a great job of publicly exposing the deceitfulness and support for terrorism coming out of some Arab Middle Eastern tyrannies like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. This is an eye-opener for any one who enters the website.

Taslima Nasrin

This lady must be one of the bravest individuals in modern times. A medical doctor and writer who has exposed the brutal treatment of women and the Hindu minority in her home country Bangladesh, Taslima Nasrin was hounded by tens of thousands of rampaging Islamofascist thugs demanding her execution and was even harassed and threatened with jail by her own government for "injuring peoples religious sensitivities" (!!!). Forced to flee Bangladesh, Taslima now spends her time moving between Stockholm, New York and Calcutta.

Sabatina James

A young and brave women, Sabatina James had to endure a terrible ordeal in a religious school in Pakistan. Having escaped to Austria, and having written a book on her experiences, Sabatina James is a convert from Islam to Christianity. She lives in fear of thugs who have declared their intent to murder her.

Canada Immigrants

Tens of thousands of people from around the world emigrate to Canada every year in search of supposed opportunities not available to them in their countries of origin. But does Canada really have anything to offer these people or is it all just a matter of hype? Read the contributions on this issue by hundreds of immigrants in this forum and form your own opinion.
